Introducing Sidewalk Tastes

I’m excited to tell you about something we’ve been quietly building and refining for a while. We have envisioned it since Day 1, but it has taken time to assemble the foundational elements. At long last, we would like to pull back the curtain and announce Sidewalk Tastes.

Sophisticated Food Tours with a Dine-and-Dash Attitude

Sidewalk Taste Page_Show App.jpg

Sidewalk Tastes are all-inclusive food tours guided by app. Think of them as wandering feasts where each course - from appetizer to dessert - is enjoyed in a different favorite eatery. Each stop reflects the unique culture, era and theme of the neighborhood. Best of all, you can keep your wallet in your pocket; at each stop, just show the unique access key in your app to receive your featured bite.

Of course, the transaction-free simplicity is just the beginning of the experience. Throughout the walk, the Sidewalk app shares insider recommendations, tasting notes, stories behind the chefs and cultural content about the neighborhood.

Our initial collection of Sidewalk Tastes feature our favorite eateries in three of our favorite neighborhoods in San Francisco.

The Mission: Cuban Empanadas, Creole Bites & Specialty Scoops

Explore a neighborhood in-flux as techie millennials mix with multi-generational Latino families. Enjoy a rich variety of craft lattes, New Orleans-style boudin balls, the best empanadas in the neighborhood and artisanal ice cream - all along a backdrop of local markets, street art, and hipster boutiques.

North Beach Sidewalk Taste_Blog.jpg

North Beach: Fresh Cannoli, World-Class Pizza & Chic Dim Sum

San Francisco’s Little Italy district shares a common footprint with 19th-century Barbary Coast vices, 20th-century Beatniks and 21st-century Chinatown expansion. This Taste celebrates each era of North Beach with made-to-order cannoli, award-winning Napoletana pizza, artisanal Shanghai soup dumplings and a molecular-gastronomic dessert.

The Marina: French Pastry, Fresh Mexican & Culinary Innovations

Art Deco architecture, athleisure galore, and twentysomethings walking labradoodle puppies, the Marina District is one of the city’s best neighborhoods for people-watching. As you explore the scene on Chestnut Street, savor an authentic French croissant, Baja-style tacos, churned-to-order ice cream and a glass of bubbly.

Locals Love Sidewalk Tastes

There is no better way to explore a city than by indulging the senses on a Sidewalk Taste. Sidewalk Tastes are perfect for date night, weekend excursions, activities with out-of-town visitors, team outings and plenty of other excuses to get out and stretch your legs.

“My sister and I went on a traditional, human-guided San Francisco food tour a few weeks before going on the Sidewalk Taste of North Beach. We liked the Sidewalk Taste experience so much more! We were amazed by the quality and quantity of food - we were stuffed at the end! Also, being able to explore on our own schedule was wonderful.” @foodysistas

“Sidewalk Tastes take the guessing game out of finding tasty treats in neighborhoods you want to explore.” @shareourplate

“Thanks to the Sidewalk Taste of the Mission, I was finally able to try out Garden Creamery. Such a fun experience that I highly recommend!” @ravenousfork

“Loved exploring on the Taste of the Mission! It was so nice having a set list of things to do without having to worry about where to go or what to eat next. It’s an all inclusive foodie crawl/walk!” @lifedelicacies

“It was the perfect amount of food and the stops in between the food were perfect. The app itself is really easy to use and there’s a bunch of information on each stop.”@flavorfullsf

This is just the beginning. There are more neighborhoods and cities to explore, more experiences to savor. You can imagine where we can go in the future. For now, indulge on a Sidewalk Taste or learn more about the Taste experience. We can’t wait to hear what you think.
